I have learnt so much about teaching using the Big Picture approach to learning. One key feature has been to take students with you when you travel. I have started doing this and the student response has been amazing.

Shannon’s trip to Perth with me to visit a Big Picture school (Yule Brook College) was quite an experience for us both. He had so many firsts – plane flight, restaurant eating, speaking at meetings etc.

This week I am planning a trip to GippsTafe to talk to them about their work with youth and I am taking Zak and Maxine to talk about their educational story and about their experiences with Big Picture. Just to see them all excited about the trip is testimony enough that it is worth the effort.
